Her decades of experience in healthcare, combined with her heart for serving people, bring valuable leadership, integrity, and compassion to the organization's mission.
Lessie’s healthcare career began in New York, where she worked at NYU for 13 years as a nurse’s aide. During that time, she was accepted into the hospital’s Medical Technology Program, where she successfully completed her training while receiving a stipend that supported her education until graduation.
After getting married, Lessie relocated to Connecticut to begin the next chapter of her life. She applied for a position at the Hebrew Home, and although there were no available openings, the hiring manager was so impressed with her qualifications and experience that a new position was created specifically for her.
Six months later, Lessie accepted a Medical Technologist position at Hartford Hospital, where she served for 10 years. She then continued her career at Saint Francis Hospital, dedicating another 30 years as a Medical Technologist before retiring after more than four decades of service in healthcare.
In 2020, Lessie experienced a profound personal loss when her husband of 40 years passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this heartbreaking experience, she found renewed purpose in continuing to serve others.
Today, Lessie operates a welcoming home for traveling nurses through Blessed Stay and Nurse Finders, providing safe, comfortable accommodations for healthcare professionals during their contract assignments. Her commitment to supporting those who care for others reflects the same compassion that has guided her throughout her career.
Through One Good Mission Inc., Lessie is committed to extending her legacy of service by helping provide food, essential resources, and hope to individuals and families in need. She supports the organization's outreach initiatives, including community food distributions, blessing bags for people experiencing homelessness, back-to-school programs for children, and efforts that encourage compassion, dignity, and service throughout the community.
Her journey is a testament to resilience, faith, and the belief that one act of kindness can inspire lasting change.
